Learning Center – Masterlab
Welcome to the Masterlab Learning Center — a knowledge platform dedicated to quality control systems in textile, dyeing, and finishing laboratories. This section provides technical and educational resources to help you apply global standards such as ISO, AATCC, ASTM in textile testing.
International Standards for Textile Testing
ISO – International Organization for Standardization
A global body that develops consistent specifications to ensure the quality and safety of products. ISO standards in textiles cover colorfastness, tensile strength, air permeability, and more—enabling objective evaluation and global comparability.
AATCC – American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists
The leading authority in North America for textile quality testing. AATCC provides detailed test protocols for colorfastness, stain resistance, washing, and drying. Its methods are widely recognized in global markets.

Core Textile Testing Topics
1. Color Fastness Testing
Purpose: Evaluate fabric resistance to color change under washing, perspiration, light, or rubbing.
Standards: AATCC 61 / ISO 105-C06, AATCC 15, AATCC 8, ISO 105-B02

2. Color Measurement & Matching
Purpose: Verify color matching between sample and reference using color measurement techniques.
Standards: CIE Lab – ΔE – ΔEcmc

3. Tensile & Tear Strength Testing
Purpose: Determine fabric resistance to tension and tearing.
Standards: ASTM D5034 – ISO 13934-1

4. Dimensional Stability / Shrinkage
Purpose: Measure dimensional change in fabric after washing or heat exposure.
Standards: ISO 6330 / AATCC 135

5. Air Permeability Testing
Purpose: Assess fabric breathability and air transmission.
Standards: ASTM D737 / ISO 9237
